However it now works but it only works when you press the left hand side of the handle where as - before it went in it worked both on the left and right side of the boot handle, kinda like a see saw effect. Thinking of getting it swapped on its next service, though I am told it is a citroen only part and valued at £19.99 to buy.

I've got a stuck tailgate on my C4GP Exclusive and have had a good look around the forum and suspect the problem is the microswitch behind the lock handle. When I open the top half of the boot I can hear the microswitch operating, but when I press the plastic handle for the main boot, there is no click. Recently when opening the car with central locking the boot lid would always unhatch itself so I'd always had to close it but recently the boot won't open at all using the keys or the button on the hatch. I have also noticed my brake Led light has gone aswell not sure if problem is linked. I have the same problem - 2014 C4 Grand Picasso. When I press the tailgate open button on the key, it unlocks, but does not raise. I can manually open it, but it takes some effort to lift the tailgate. Pressing the button on the tailgate to close it - I just hear 3 short beeps and no movement.
So I dismantled the entire boot lid and removed switch and lock, car still wouldn't lock only thing left was the wiper disconnected it and bingo car locked fine put it back together and switch and boot lock operated as normal.
