For some reason my ISO is always running higher than theirs when the shutter speed and aperture is the same. I know there's a lot of variables so this morning I got out my 7D (original), 5D Mark III and 5D Mark IV. The lighting was the same - I mounted the Canon 70-200 f2.8 III lens on each camera, set at 200mm. For years I’ve used the Canon 5D cameras almost exclusively, and would be grateful for any recommendations on good choices to upgrade. If possible, I’d like to stay in the Canon family, as I’m familiar with them. I work as a video producer for a nonprofit, and do a lot of interview-based and documentary-style videos. You can get a 5D in good condition with all the pieces and parts (battery, body cap, charger, and strap) for just a few hundred bucks. If you want ALL the features of the 5D iv, a cheaper price, and access to the updated lens library, then go for the EOS R. It is essentially a 5D iv in a smaller body with more features and around 1k cheaper. Alternatively, if you want all the features of the 1Dx iii, and you’re willing to spend ~2.6k, go for the R6. 1.
It's still a great 👍 camera. 📸 A Canon f2.8 70-200 IS USM L lens will get you great sports photos with it. For sports where a high shutter speed is probably necessary anyway, may be able to get an even better deal on a 70–200/2.8L non-IS. Canon 5D IV is an excellent DSLR and a pro upgrade from the canon Rebel. In this video I review the Canon 5D Mark IV.
